Your skin is made up of millions and millions of cells. These skin cells constantly shed while new ones are made. This process is called your skin’s shedding cycle. In normal skin, this cycle takes about 28 days. In skin with psoriasis, the shedding cycle can take only 3 to 6 days. This results in your skin cells piling up on the surface of your skin. And your cells will keep piling up and become red, inflamed, and itchy.
